 RESEARCH INTERESTS

My general scientific interests are in developing compounds that can be used for studying dynamic, biological processes in cells and tissue. I began my research career as a RNA chemist studying problems such as how to synthesize branched RNA. My research has gradually shifted towards design, synthesis and applications of enzyme inhibitors. My lab is interested in both the fundamental principles governing signal transduction and how to manipulate it. This is a tremendously exciting time for creative exploration in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry: our knowledge of molecular biology is now combined with exciting new tools for dissecting and manipulation biological systems.
