I’m interested in photopharmacology. Presently, I focus on developing kinase inhibitors by inserting photoresponsive units into the chemical structures. These switching units will allow for the use of light as an external control element for pharmacological activity with high spatiotemporal precision, resulting in in vivo activation/deactivation. Results from these studies will have implications for future drug development for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, e.g. Alzheimer’s disease.
